The construction crew finished my new room Friday afternoon, so I spent the entire weekend cleaning, painting, and moving some of my stuff back in. It took forever to paint...two coats of primer and two coats of color...and it is one big room! I was determined to get my room together, and needless to say, I was exhausted when I went to bed last night.
It was so refreshing to come down to my very clean and bright craft room this morning. I was even inspired to make a card.
I used one of my favorite color combos... pink and orange. So bright and cheery with lots of bling!
Supplies used:
Stamps - PTI Polkadot Basics and Think Big Favorites
Paper - GKD PL white
Ink - Memento Angel Pink, Tangelo, and Rosebud
Accessories - Rhinestones
I will be moving more of my stuff back in as soon as I can figure out my storage. I didn't have a closet built in to my room, so I need to decide what I am going to use. I am thinking about the PAX units from Ikea. I am also going to build my own cutting and sewing tables, so I will have to save the big reveal until I get them done. You can hold be accountable!
I feel a big purge coming on too, because I am not putting it back in my room unless I am going to use it. (Haven't I said that before?) I already weeded out 4 paper packs last night. Go me!
I hope you are having a bright crafty day!

Craft Room Progress and a "Light Dusting"
For a craft addict like myself, it has been painful to not have a craft room. And because of the construction dust, all of my supplies are sealed under layers of plastic, and inaccessible to me. It has only been a week and a half, and I'm going crazy.
You can throw me a pity party now.
This it what my room looked like this morning...
They still need to finish installing the floor and trim out the door and the baseboards. Then it will be ready for me to paint. I guess I better hurry up and decide what color I am going to use. Help!
And just because I know weather forecasting is not an exact science, I wanted to show you pictures of the "light dusting, about an inch or two" that was forecast for us overnight.
Looking down our street.
The snow that had been around for months finally melted in the 60 degree temps we had just yesterday. This is all new snow.
It has snowed well over 2 more inches since I took these pics, and it's still coming down. It looks like a winter wonderland outside ... so pretty.
Have a happy day!

Demolition
It was only two years ago when I was dreaming of my perfect craft room. I researched and planned and agonized over making sure I had a place for everything. And my dream came true. Here is the big reveal of my craft room circa October 2010.
I loved my new room. I had the perfect spot for everything in my rubber stamping and card making world.
Then my creative mind changed gears and I started sewing again. I had no room for a cutting table, ironing board, fabric storage, and all my sewing accessories. My sewing machine and serger lived cramped together on the same table with barely enough room for me to sew. My sewing area spewed forth into the basement entertainment area and where the pool table was supposed to go. I think that was the last straw for hubby.
Being very supportive of my creative endeavors, he suggested I take over his work-at-home office for my sewing area. He could move his office into the weird room we have in our house that doesn't really get used for anything.
How could I say no?
Last weekend was spent clearing out my craft room (gee, I have a lot of stuff!) and his office in preparation for construction to begin. We are tearing down the wall between our two rooms so I will have one HUGE craft room.
Here are a few pictures of our rooms.
My empty room.
Closet and wall to be removed.
The wall that is no more!
One big room!
The final room will be about 11'x23' (I think). And I will have no problem filling it up!
But before it gets put together, I have to decide what color I am going to paint it. Although I really liked the So Saffron walls, it is time for them to go. I was thinking of a neutral gray so I could accessorize with color. The floors will be bamboo, and you can see the two egress windows that let in a lot of light.
What do you think? What color would you use? (Please don't say tan or beige - our whole house is tan!) Should I go for color on the walls, or color with accessories? I am really liking aqua and orange right now (not necessarily together), but don't know if I want them on my walls. Help me decide.
Thanks for your input!
