Mistakes and All

As many of you may agree, there are no such things as mistakes in the stamping world.  Many times when making a card, I think I made a mistake only to find the card turned out better than it probably would have had I not made the mistake.  Some mistakes can be hidden with another layer or cutting the image out and popping it up.  A smudge can turn into an embellishing opportunity, or an improvement on the layout.  And some just have to stay the way they are.

The first card here is an example of a mistake that I couldn't hide.  I was lazy and didn't use my Stamp-a-ma-jig.  I know better than that, but I did it anyway.  Next time I'll not be so lazy!

This is for the CAS52 challenge at Splitcoaststampers.  It was a sketch challenge inspired by kmahany.  Here is the link to her card  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1547773  I really like this sketch, and anticipate using it a lot.  You can see how the third cupcake is hopping off the table!

Supplies used:
Stamps - Darling Dots, PTI Mega Mixed Messages
Paper - GKD pure luxury white, Razzleberry Lemonade DSP
Ink - Choc chip
Accessories - Melon Mambo, Dusty Durango, Bermuda Bay, Crushed curry, Real Red, Certainly Celery markers, Bermuda bay polkadot ribbon

This next card also has a 'mistake' I didn't fix.  This is the first time I have used this particular set, and I was in such a hurry to stamp my image, I didn't even think to trim the rubber.  After I stamped my image, I looked at it in disbelief and muttered "Oh, isn't that nice!"  But the more I looked at it, the more I liked it.  It had a nice 'vintage' look to it.  That isn't really what I was going for, but it's what I got, so I went with it.

I added just a little DTP around the image for a more defined border, and popped it up.  The Cuttlebug layer is sponged with Curry and Burgandy inks, and I made the bow using 2 rulers in the same way you would use the bow-easy.  (I needed one more hand for that!)  This card is for the Splitcoast color challenge this week, CC256, to use Crushed Curry, Basic Grey, and Bravo Burgandy.

Supplies used:
Stamps - Elegant Notes
Paper - GKD pure luxury white, Crushed Curry, Basic Grey, Bravo Burgandy
Ink - Bravo Burgandy, Crushed Curry
Accessories - Cuttlebug and Allegro embossing folder, SAMJ, sponges, pop dots, ribbon, brads by Pink Hedgehog Paper Crafts

I hope you enjoyed my imperfections today.  Thanks for stopping by!

Very cute! I love the cupcake card. I have a problem working with white space but love when others do it.
